The idea started on the Film Music Magazine FMPRO email discussion list to send a representative of composers to the 2009 World Copyright Summit in Washington DC next month. This is a communal effort started on the list but we want to extend it to other popular online networks for composers.

Currently composers' only representation at this event is through the publishers or through the PROs, both of which share some of our interests of course, but none are looking out for us, the composers, the creators. It is critical for composers to have a representative, this will be a sign we send forward that for the first time in our history, composers have united on some front and we want to be represented not through the PROs! With the types of decisions being made about the future of copyright there has never been a more criticial time to do this.
So we are pooling money to get a person to go to DC on our behalf. The list chose Gael McGregor, a lifelong creator, manager and advocate of composers. She will be going in the capacity of a reporter, to gather as much info first hand and report back to us. She will also try to bring questions we may have for the industry to its leaders as well.
WE ARE ASKING COMPOSERS AND SUPPORTERS EVERYWHERE TO SUPPORT SENDING GAEL TO THE WCS WITH A SMALL DONATION OF $25.

Please pitch in and help us get enough money to send her. Its $1199USD for entrance and of course travel food and lodging (lodging and ground transportation has been graciously donated by several D.C. area members). So our goal is to raise $2500.00 USD to send her to the summit. ANY DONATION of $10 or more is accepted.
If you can help out with this cause it is a wholly good one. All contributions are anonymous and will not be promoted or published anywhere.
